Andesina´s tracking route

After remaining 59 days in Golfo Nuevo, Andesina and her calf left the breeding area and traveled east-northeast to the edge of the continental shelf, 450 kilometers (280 miles) east of Punta Norte on Peninsula Valdés. From there Andesina traveled northwards more than 700 kilometers (435 miles) following the ridge of the continental slope, then abruptly turned southwards and entered the deep ocean basin off Patagonia. Later, traveling east, Andesina crossed the Malvinas (Falkland) plateau, and arrived at the Southern Antilles. Andesina’s satellite device stopped transmitting on March 3, 2023, when she was southeast of the Islas Georgias (South Georgia Islands). Andesina traveled 12,341 kilometers (7,668 miles) during the six months (181 days) she was tracked.
