We tracked Esmeralda and her calf for 28 days while they were in Golfo Nuevo. Unlike the other mothers with calves, Esmeralda not only visited the coastal zones between Puerto Pirámides and El Doradillo, but also ventured into the deep waters in the center of the gulf, and to the south coast of the gulf, near Punta Cracker, a few days before her device stopped transmitting.
