Iris´s tracking route
December 5, 2023
Iris circled the team’s boat for more than 30 minutes the day her satellite device was deployed. Mother and calf continued near the boat while the scientists took photographs and sent off a drone to record their behavior. After 10 days in Golfo Nuevo Iris began her migration heading north, to later turn 90° and move off eastwards until they reached the waters of the deep ocean basin. On November 20 Iris´s tag ended transmissions.
