Sulfurium´s tracking route

  • Sulfurium is presently in the deep ocean basin of the Southwest Atlantic Ocean, moving erratically which suggests she is feeding.

  • Like the majority of whales tagged this season, Sulfurium has already begun her migratory travels to the various feeding areas which she will use during this summer. Forty days after being tagged, she and her calf left Golfo Nuevo, traveling towards the continental slope, north of the Blue Hole.

  • Sulfurium departed Golfo Nuevo on October 19 following almost the same path as Kalium, and is now traversing the continental shelf heading southeast towards the slope. The follow-up team was able to observe this mother and her calf a day before their departure, when they were 15 km from the mouth of the gulf.

  • Sulfurium was the first whale tagged in this ninth season of the Project. Since tagging, accompanied by her calf, she has visited a large part of the north and center of Golfo Nuevo.
