November 11, 2024
These last days Rubidium continued traveling southwards, until reaching the latitude of the mouth of the Santa Cruz River. There he turned and retraced his route, until he reached the latitude of Puerto Deseado, in the middle of the Argentine continental shelf, where he remains today.

Forty-four days after being tagged, and after having visited every part of Golfo Nuevo, Rubidium began his migratory travels heading southwards. A few days before he left, and thanks to his distinctive white patch, he was easily sighted near the mouth of the gulf by the follow-up team. At present, he is at the latitude of Puerto Deseado, about 200 kilometers (124 miles) off the coast, in the center of the Argentine continental shelf.

This solitary individual of unknown sex has a distinctive white mark in the form of an inverted Y covering a large section of his back. As is characteristic of the majority of solitary individuals tracked in this study, Rubidium is typically on the move and has visited nearly all aeras of the gulf, particularly the northwest section of Golfo Nuevo.
