Neptunium´s tracking route

  • Like Niquel, Neptunium left Golfo Nuevo on November 7th. She was the last tagged whale to leave the breeding grounds this year, 51 days after being tagged. Upon departure, she began traveling southwards along the coast, until she arrived in Golfo San Jorge, where she currently is. Since beginning her migration, she has traveled 100 kilometers (62 miles) per day.

  • In these last weeks, Neptunium and her calf have continued using the western and southern sectors of Golfo Nuevo. During the 46 days she has been tracked, the follow-up team has re-sighted her five different times.

  • Neptunium and her calf spent only a few days in the northern sector of the gulf, after which they traveled to the western and southern shores. In these last few weeks they have been in areas of the gulf which are more than 100 meters (328 feet) deep.
